The fall you’re riding for

closeI woke up as the sun was reddening; and that was the one distinct time in my life,
the strangest moment of all, when I didn’t know who I was
— I was far away from home, haunted and tired with travel,
in a cheap hotel room I’d never seen, hearing the hiss of steam outside,
and the creak of the old wood of the hotel, and footsteps upstairs,
and all the sad sounds, and I looked at the cracked high ceiling
and really didn’t know who I was for about fifteen strange seconds.
- Jack Kerouac
We wanted to hold on to the feeling
on the stretch in the sun
and our breathlessness
as we run
to the beach
endlessly
as the sun creeps up
on the sea
- Lisa Hannigan
Saw this in a crowded room and fell in love.
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of fairy tales. Especially those as beautifully illustrated as this one.
The lovely golden cover, the thick cream-colored pages and the enchanting illustrations by Edmund Dulac called out to me. Resistance was futile. Pretty soon the book was in my arms and there it stayed til we got home
