Everything reminds me of her this evening

closeMore photos from The Endless Series inspired by Neil Gaiman’s Sandman graphic novels.
These are portraits of the twins – androgynous, manipulative Desire and wretched, grotesque Despair.
Desire
“And Desire walks the endless pathways of its body, certain that he, or she, or it, is in sole and only control of its destiny. The only inhabitant of the twilight realm of Desire; and it feels nothing like a doll. Nothing like a doll at all.” – Neil Gaiman

Despair
“When hope is past, she is there. She is in a thousand thousand waiting rooms and empty streets, in grey concrete buildings and anonymous hotels. She is on the other side of every mirror. When the eyes that look back at you know you too well and no longer care for what they see, they are her eyes. She stands and waits, and in her posture the pain no longer tells you to live, and in her presence joy is unimaginable.” – Neil Gaiman

This is a preview of a photo shoot inspired by The Endless, the main characters in Neil Gaiman’s series The Sandman. Mark and I and a group of good friends got together one Saturday, played dress up and shot a series of character portraits.
These are portraits of Dream, the brooding Sandman himself, and his older sister Death – most times perky, sometimes moody and always, always around.

Dream
.
“People think dreams aren’t real just because they aren’t made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.” – Neil Gaiman, Preludes and Nocturnes

Death
.
“It won’t make a lot of difference, in the long run, will it? One by one, you will all come to me.” - Neil Gaiman, Endless Nights
