The last time I spoke in front of an auditorium, I was in second grade and I recited a poem. I remember it was like being in the dark and I did not understand what I was saying.
Over the weekend I spoke again, in a cinema – which is pretty much what an auditorium would be if it grew up. This time it felt like I was talking to the light. There were spotlights and projectors and all sorts of bright things. I wish I could’ve seen the audience to see if they looked genuine when they laughed or if they were sleeping when they were silent.
